PRE/POST CARE: COLLAGEN INDUCTION THERAPY
-
Avoid over exposure to the sun:
Skin that is sunburned, cracked, or irritated cannot receive this treatment.
If you have a history of cold sores, take an antiviral 48 hours prior to you treatment and also the day of your appointment:
If you forget to take the antiviral and you have a cold sore the day of your session, you will need to reschedule your appointment.
Do not use topical agents that may increase the sensitivity of your skin 3 days prior to your treatment:
This includes, but is not limited to retinoids, exfoliants, topical antibiotics or acids.
You should avoid taking NSAIDS (or other drugs or supplements that thin the blood) in the week leading up to your appointment:
Thinner blood could result in some bruising.
If possible, please arrive at the office without makeup on and with a clean face (for men, a clean shaven face):
If you’ve had Botox, fillers or threads recently injected, please wait at least two weeks before considering this treatment.
-
After the treatment, nothing topical should be applied for at least 90 minutes.
Avoid washing your face for the first 6 hours:
You can wash the treated area carefully with a mild cleanser and then apply a gentle moisturizer. The cleanser and moisturizer should be free of any active or exfoliating ingredients.
Avoid wearing makeup for the first 12-24 hours after the treatment, longer if possible:
Your skin is healing and repairing itself, so the less you do to it the better. Always wash your hands before touching your face and if you must use makeup, please make sure you are using CLEAN makeup brushes.
Do NOT exfoliate during the first 7 days.
Avoid direct sunlight for the first 7 days:
Wear proper sun protection when you are out in the sun.
Avoid vigorous exercise for the first 72 hours (this includes swimming).
Avoid anti-inflammatory medication post treatment, if possible:
Inflammation is a crucial part of the healing process and taking NSAIDS will slow the rate at which your skin heals.
